A cheque for the amount was presented to ECOWAS Executive Secretary Mohammed Ibn Chambas, the official said. The Netherlands had earlier contributed one million euros to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for the same purpose, he added. No further details were provided. In its latest peacekeeping mission Nigerian troops that are the vanguard of an ECOWAS force that is eventually expected to number between 3,000 and 5,000 soldiers began arriving in war-torn Liberia on Monday.
