| Citizens, private organizations and governments around the world have recently begun to devote high levels of attention to the humanitarian danger posed by the proliferation and misuse of military style small arms. To date, however, there is very little hard data about the principal sources of small arms supply and trafficking. To help fill this gap, NISAT is developing a comprehensive, Internet-accessible database of world-wide military small arms production and transfers. This collection of information is intended to facilitate sound policy development and the production of activist materials. It is also intended to highlight the current lack of transparency practiced by most governments in their small arms production and trade. Martin Langvandslien, Lora
Lumpe, and Nic Marsh are building this site. We encourage you to use our information, and we
appreciate you citing our work and helping to publicize the existence of this resource. We
welcome questions, comments and input from researchers around the world, and we will
acknowledge your contributions on line. |
